Film Lovers Can Enjoy the Park City Film Series



1412966448If you are film enthusiasts, you will definitely want to check out the Park City Film Series. This program offers screenings of current independent films, including some featured at Sundance.

The films are presented at the Jim Santy Auditorium for a uniquely intimate film viewing experience. Right now, the films are being show at a temporary location (through February 1, 2015) at the Prospector Lodge and Conference Center, located at 2175 Sidewinder Drive.

The Park City Film Series is hosted by a non-profit organization that endeavors to present the best of independent feature, documentary, and world cinema. The mission of the organization is to create community through film.

Park City Film Series History

The Park City Film Series was first a project of the Park City Arts Council. It has be an independent operating entity since October 1999. The Series is a single screen, independent art house cinema, making it a part of a group of theatres that represent about 4% of all theaters throughout the United States.

The Series presents films and film-related events that might not be available through commercial outlets. In addition, the Sundance Institute offers free community programs during the year.

Community Programming

In addition to the regularly scheduled movies, the Film Series presents a series of community programming throughout the area.

Reel Community Series

The Reel Community Series screens films each month in partnership with area non-profit organizations. The films presented reflect the mission of the partners, as well as the interests of the community. The series focus is to create platform for community conversation.

Books 2 Movies

A partnership between the Park City Library, the Summit County Library, and the Park City Film Series, Books 2 Movies strives to bridge the divide between children and young adult literature and movies. The series is designed to get people who may be reluctant to read become interested in literature through movies. Films are shown the first Saturday of each month at 3 p.m. at the Park City and Kimball Junctions libraries, and the first Thursday of each month at 4 p.m. at the Kamas and Coalville libraries.
